The Keema Interview

#SheGotSole: The Blog Series recently had a chance to chat with Keema from D.C. about her favorite kicks & more. Check out the interview below!

Name: Keema

Instagram: @keemakeem

What's your favorite sneaker? Why?

My favorite sneaker has to be a 3 way tie between the adidas Gazelle's, OG Superstar Shell toe Adidas, and the OG Sk8-Hi Vans. I can't just choose 1. I love all 3 of these sneakers for the simple fact that they're the most versatile shoe to me and my wardrobe. For a lot of people it's Chuck Taylor's, but for me it's these 3. I just love the way they look and feel on my feet. I don't have a favorite color way of either shoe. I just simply admire the make of all 3 shoes. These are shoes that will never go out of style for me. I'll be old and grey still loving on these particular sneakers. Forever a fan.

What do you think of the current state of female sneaker culture?

I think the current state of the female sneaker head culture is growing by the day. Over the years I believe it's been a huge change in the numbers of women who love sneakers. I know that back in the day it was a big thing when the hip hop culture was on the rise. But I don't think there were any innovators (not to my knowledge at least) but I do remember the early 2000's when Missy Elliot came on the seen with some heat with her Adidas shoe contract. Then a few years ago women like Teyana Taylor, Rita Ora, and Rihanna. And now even Nicki Minaj and also Serena Williams has put a sneaker out. They caught our attention with their creativeness of the inner sneaker head inside of them. Which I enjoy and appreciate a lot. I Hope more women entertainers and or just women who love sneakers in general break out in this lovely culture for sure.

Lastly, how do you incorporate sneakers into your daily wardrobe?

Well for me it's literally in my daily wardrobe lol. I work in retail at the Adidas outlet store so not only do I get to enjoy wearing sneakers everyday I also have to do it as a profession as well. I have the pleasure and opportunity to show off my creativeness and my shoe collection all at once for fun and for pay. I love dressing unique and I love showing that off with my many colorful and semi exclusive sneakers. #IssaLifestyle
