We had a chance to catch up with LA based content creator and designer S.Andrsn on female sneaker influence & how to rock kicks with a minimal wardrobe.
Name: Shanae Anderson
Where are you from? I’m a “military brat” so I’ve lived all over California. I was born in Los Angeles and reside there currently. I moved to Oakland,CA right after high school and lived there for 10 years so it definitely feels like home. However all of my family lives in Dallas,TX so Dallas has a special place in my heart as well.
What's your favorite sneaker? Why? Ah, tough question! If I had to pick, it would probably be the Jordan XI. It’s such a classic to me and carries a nostalgia to the 90s and Jordan era. The patent leather adds that extra touch to make it versatile for any occasion.
But more than likely, you will find me in Vans on any given day.
What do you think of the current state of female sneaker culture?
Growing up there weren’t many examples I could look to that wore sneakers and embraced their femininity. It’s definitely refreshing to now see so many women accepting sneakers fashion and still be “girly”.
To see different people like Aleali May and Carroll Lynn get their own shoes with major brands such as Jordan and Puma is very inspiring. I respect those who are truly about it and not just hype beasts.
Lastly, how do you incorporate sneakers into your daily wardrobe?
I wear sneakers basically everyday to be honest. My style is pretty minimal and so are my sneakers, so I can pick any pair to throw on and it will work with my outfit. Whether I’m wearing jeans or a dress, sneakers are always my first option.
